- Via Traditional Main Road (A1):
- Distance: ~125 km.
- Description: This scenic but slow route takes you through towns like Warakapola and Kegalle. It follows the old Colombo-Kandy road.
- Advantage: More cultural and scenic views of rural life and shops. No toll fees.
- Disadvantage: Can be very slow, winding, and is prone to traffic jams, especially near towns.
Recommendation: Always choose the Expressway route. The time saved and the comfort level are significantly higher. The scenic value of the old road is not worth the extra hours and potential motion sickness on winding sections.
